As a sole-trading operator, Cabinet Queen does not offer free quotes or free at-home consultations.

So to keep pricing fair, transparent, and competitive, the following initial, time-based fees apply dependant on the job and scope of work.

These fees cover the extensive time, travel, admin, software, supplier and trade coordination, and professional expertise required to produce accurate cabinetry estimates.

Here are Cabinet Queen’s Initial Fees - 👉 Please be aware that every initial fee is applied per project and is time-based dependent on the inquiry type and scope of works:


1️⃣ MINIMUM CALL-OUT FEE — $100 - 150 + GST

For small jobs, repairs, minor alterations, hardware upgrades, and diagnosis work.
Includes:
• Up to 30 mins onsite
• Up to 30 mins / 30 km travel each way
• Hardware + colour matching
• Feasibility checks for repair or replacement
• A price indication may be provided by Cabinet Queen while onsite with the client, giving a rough idea of the expected cost for the job.


2️⃣ CONSULTATION FEE = $150 - 250 + GST (Weekdays)  /   $225 - 275 + GST (Saturdays)

This fee is time based and required for ALL new cabinetry projects and Includes:
• Travel and vehicle costs
• On-site assessment
• Detailed scope discussion, including completion of Cabinet Queen’s 2-page project checklist
  – Assessment of existing water system
  – Electrical circuit board review
  – Site photos of both electrical and water system / plumbing fit offs taken for contracted trades to ensure clear communication and efficient quoting and project management. 
• Full site measurements.
• Material and hardware discussions.
• Benchtop and cabinetry colour selections.
• Initial sketch drafting.
• Cabinet Queen’s professional time and expertise.
• Portable showroom van brought to your home.
• A price indication may be provided by Cabinet Queen while onsite with the client, giving a rough idea of the expected cost for the job.


3️⃣ DESIGN & QUOTING FEE = $150 - 325 + GST - The fee is Dependant on the size and scope of the project.

This is because the fee is time based and required before any estimate/quote is issued and includes:

• Full 3D design drafting using industry software.
• Detailed communication with the client prior to gathering pricing.
• Supplier pricing and trade communication and coordination.
• Preparation of a detailed accurate estimate/quote prepared.                   
• Cabinet Queen’s professional time and expertise.


4️⃣ ADDITIONAL SERVICE FEES INCLUDING

KITSET / CLIENT-SUPPLIED CABINETRY = $150 – 325 + GST
(Flat packs from Bunnings, Mitre 10, Placemakers, ITM, or other third-party suppliers - Excludes Trade Depot, IKEA, cab jacks)
To receive an estimate for Cabinet Queen to either fabricate and install, or install only a supplied kitset, a quoting fee applies.
This fee covers the time involved in reviewing plans, confirming measurements, in-depth communication with the client, assessing the project scope and complexity, considering benchtop supply and installation if required, all administration tasks and preparing an installation estimate.


5️⃣ BENCHTOP REFACING OR REPLACEMENT = $150 + GST
(Laminate, Stone, Stainless Steel or Timber)

To reface or replace your existing benchtop, the process begins with an onsite consultation.
This fee covers:
• Site visit
• Site measure
• Benchtop selection
• Accessory selection including sinks, taps, and appliances

Following the benchtop consultation, a design and quoting fee will apply. This fee is determined once Cabinet Queen has completed the consultation process and the full scope of work has been assessed.


🚗 TRAVEL & KM RATE ADJUSTMENT (TEMPORARY)
 
Cabinet Queen’s standard kilometre rate is $0.95 per km, which aligns with the majority of New Zealand vehicle running cost guidelines.

However, due to the current fuel price increases across New Zealand, Cabinet Queen has had to implement a temporary increase to $1.50 per km to cover the rising operational costs of running a sole-trader business.
 
This adjusted kilometre rate applies to:
• All Minimum Call-Out Fees
• All Consultation Fees
• Any additional travel mileage incurred outside of Cabinet Queen’s 30km consultation radius
• All kilometre charge-outs included within quotes

This increase will be reviewed once fuel prices stabilise and return to standard levels.


📌 IMPORTANT NOTES

• Every initial fee is time-based and applies per project.
• The Standard Design & Quoting Fee is  $150 – $325 + GST depending on the complexity of the project.
• Travel charges apply outside the 30 min / 30 km radius.
• Cabinet Queen cannot provide quotes or estimates from:
– Website contact-form messages or email explanations alone
– Client-supplied plans. (Please note - Client supplied plans are merely a guideline and Terms and Conditions apply.)
– Builder’s drawings
– Photos
– Sketches
– Facebook messages
• All quoting requires an onsite visit plus Cabinet Queen–produced CAD plans to ensure accuracy, compliance, and warranty-safe installation.
• Revision fees apply in cases of indecision, repeated design alterations, or changes to previously approved plans. All revision fees are charged based on Cabinet Queen’s time spent and will be invoiced accordingly.
• If a project is paused for 30+ days, initial fees must be paid again to re-engage.
• Cabinet Queen accepts no responsibility for errors in client-supplied measurements or plans.
